EVENT FAQs

What are the requirements for a design team to participate?
Volunteer teams create and model their own unique robot looks that incorporate a minimum of 25% repurposed electronic items. These items can include cords and cables, monitors, Christmas lights, keyboards, MP3 players, hard drives, circuit boards, VHS tapes, cell phones, etc. Get creative!

Can I be on a team by myself?
Yes! Design teams can be one person, but the designer will need to model their look.

What can teams expect?
A robot fashion outfit should be sturdy enough to sashay down the runway. The outfit should be ready for the runway at the time of the show and we encourage teams to show up with completed looks. There will be a green room available to get ready.

Only one person from each team will be walking the runway, however there will be an interview portion of the show where your robot model and one other designer from the team can come on stage and speak. Participants will be asked about their costume design and a sustainability-focused interview question that we will provide to you ahead of time.

Will old tech be provided for registered design teams?
Yes! Contact Theresa to coordinate time to come to Repowered and collect some old electronics and recycled media that can be used without charge for costumes.

Will there be prizes?
Yes! Stay tuned for a list of prizes.
